Last year, with much thrill, the very first 3G Blackberry mobile phone was put on the market, titled the Blackberry Bold 9000.  With it’s very rapid speeds compared to Research in Motion’s earlier EDGE phones, wonderful picture quality and much much more, Research in Motion was able to set a new bar for their Blackberry cell phones.  After that came the Curve/Javelin 8900, Storm 9530, Storm 2 9550, Tour 9630 and the Curve/Gemini 8520 . RIM has finally announced the Blackberry Bold 9700, and with delight, have provided faster speeds, great image quality, and so many more features.

Various Blackberry users have been readily calling *611 to Rogers Wireless, T-mobile in the USA, USA – AT&T demanding hardware upgrades, lots of people agreeing to new agreements with these wireless companies, and the outside markets like Craigslist are being clouded with extremely high prices on the Bold 9700 AKA Onyx. An even higher hype is now in motion.  With all of this enthusiasm, Cellfservices has assessed a comparison between the Blackberry Bold 9000 and the new Bold.

Cellfservices – a provider of Cell Phone Unlock Codes, has detailed the following in the 2 videos on their Youtube website.

Part 1: Bold 9000 vs. Bold 9700 – Hardware, Firmware and Features

The Blackberry 9700 for sure hasn’t failed to outshine our expectations.  With the sleek style of the Blackberry 8900 and Tour, Research in Motion has formed a device lighter and quicker than the Bold 9000.  In the videos, we endeavor to uncover the details below…

  • Physical Overview – Embedded Rubber buttons vs. Metal buttons on the 9000
  • Texting Synopsis – Firmware 5.0.0.321 versus Firmware 4.6.0.162
  • Back Comparisons – SIM card slots and Micro SD slots
  • Protective Covers – Ripping off the stickers.  It hurts us to do this.
  • Starting Screens – Black with Logo loading screen vs. Blinding White light

Part 2: 9000 versus 9700 – Video and Pictures

In our best shot, we’ve captured pictures in low light in a standing position (9000) vs (9700), and in bright light (9000) vs (9700)with the 2 BlackBerry cameras from the equivalent views.  We also thought it would be of use to take video footage of downtown Toronto with the 9000 in 1 hand and the 9700 in opposite hands.  Here, you will be able toevaluate the video quality as well as the audio worth from both RIM products.

  • Picture Quality: Low light & Daylight images
  • Film Quality: Shows the sounds of loud traffic.

Results:

We’ve been able to draw a few findings from our video analysis.

  • With version 5.0 on the Bold 9700, processing rates, internet speeds and features such as messaging are notably enhanced
  • The lighter weight and smaller device make it more suitable to carry around
  • Embedded rubber buttons will break slower on the Bold 9700 than the metal buttons on the 9000
  • Pictures capture additional colors with the BlackBerry 9700.
  • Film quality is significantly different.  The BlackBerry 9000 has a higher pitched audio and has a tendency to cut in and out, while the BlackBerry 9700 catches more of what your voice really sounds like and blocks out unnecessary racket, yet captures delicate sought after noises.

In our opinion, we believe that the Bold 9700 will be the most excellent Blackberry mobile obtainable on the market for at least the next year.
